Ensuite & small bathroom renovations in Pakenham & Officer.
A small footprint is an opportunity, not a problem. With frameless screens, wall-hung vanities, recessed niches and large-format tiling we make ensuites and powder rooms across the Cardinia growth corridor feel noticeably bigger than the floor plan suggests — and waterproofed properly to last.
Making a small bathroom work harder.
Ensuites and powder rooms are the most common renovation in Pakenham’s family estates — either freshening a dated master ensuite or carving a second wet area out of an existing room. The challenge is always space, so every decision is about making a small footprint read as larger while still fitting a usable shower, vanity and toilet. The good news is that a smaller tiled area means a slightly faster build and a lower overall price than a full main bathroom.
The moves that open a small space up.
- Frameless glass screen — clear sightline to the back wall instead of a chopped-up framed enclosure.
- Wall-hung vanity & back-to-wall toilet — visible floor under the fittings makes the room feel bigger.
- Recessed tiled niche — storage built into the wall cavity rather than protruding shelves.
- Large-format tiles carried floor-to-ceiling — fewer grout lines, calmer surfaces.
- Hobless or low-hob shower — one continuous floor plane, no visual step.
- Vanity-width mirror & layered lighting — doubles the perceived depth.
2026 cost guide & a worked example.
An ensuite or powder-room renovation typically runs $12,000–$22,000. As a worked example, a 4m² Lakeside ensuite — full strip-out, re-waterproof to AS 3740, floor-to-ceiling tiling, a 900mm frameless screen, wall-hung vanity, back-to-wall toilet and a tiled niche — comes in around $16,000: roughly $3,000 demolition and make-good, $2,400 waterproofing and screed, $4,200 tiling and materials, $3,200 plumbing rough-in and fit-off, $1,200 electrical and $2,000 fixtures and tapware. Doing a main bathroom and ensuite together is more cost-effective per room than two separate visits.
Adding a second bathroom.
Family demand across Officer and the estates means we are often asked to add a second bathroom or master ensuite rather than just refresh one. Where that needs new plumbing or a moved wall we handle the rough-in, the AS 3740 waterproofing and the certificates, build any structural change to the NCC Volume 2, and lodge the Cardinia Shire building permit where a wet area is being created from scratch.
